Breast cancer recurrence after mastectomy

Patient age 88, with recurrent left breast cancer, after mastectomy in 2004, after reoparation because of recurrence in cicatrix (May 2006) and external beam radiation therapy because of following recurrence (November 2006), came to brachytherapy consulting office in September 2007 with next local recurrence, with no evidence of distant metastasis. She was qualified for combined treatment: HDR brachytherapy and superficial hyperthermia. 10 fractions of 4 Gy/1cm depth were given preceding by HT (twice weekly, treatment time - 1 hour, nominal temperature - 42.5 degree Celsius). Tolerance of treatment was good, in follow-up we noted partial remission.
