Breast Cancer - Interstitial boost irradiation of the primary tumour site after breast conserving surgery

Case report:
Patient with breast cancer (T1N1M0), after BCS surgery, chemotherapy and external beam radiation therapy, was qualified for HDR Brachytherapy as a "boost". Histopathology: ductal invasive carcinoma and "in situ" G2, without lymph node involvement. In general anaesthesia 7 elastic needles were inserted in bottom half of a right breast. CT scans were made every 3 mm, then 3D treatment plan was prepared using PLATO system. Dose of 10 Gy was given into tumour bed.
